She was borned and raised in Norwegain, but had migrated to Harajaku, Japan, when she was 7. Crazy it seems, to suddenly move from the quiet green lands to busy modern buildings where you can barely see the sky. But it was all the idea of Rie's eccentric mother, Konako, who dearly missed the hustle and bustle of Japan when she married her husband, Lyon, and moved to a gentle, carefree lifestyle.
Konako would bring them everywhere throughout Harajaku, and little Rie was astounded by the colourful and loud, or the dark and mysterious dressings by the Japanese. It was then a spark grew in her heart. Soon she found herself grasping tightly on to a little sketchbook everywhere she goes, often seen scribbling intensely on the rough paper, a bright glow appearing on her face. Konako would smile and say, "You are born an original, Rie, so don't die a copy".
What she drew was more than mere children's drawings, but pieces of brightly coloured clothes scattered about the pages. Inspired by the Harajaku style she was.
But at age 13, tragedy struck. She lost both her parents in a car crash, who last words were "never let go of that dream". Shock and sudden loss left her empty for several months, and she seemed to be of a different person. In the foster care she was sent to, people deemed her as a very introverted and cold child, for they never really knew her true personality. She held her sketchbook to the chest everyday, but that was all. She did not lift a single pencil or pen, nor flipped the pages. Only as the agony lessens was then light reappeared in her eyes. Now and then she would flip to a random page and stare for ages, before slowly picking back up her pencil. Even though her passion flared strongly, she was never the same cheerful Rie as before. She then also started to work part-time as a stylist's assistant.
Aged 17 on a particular evening, a phamlet filled with beautiful graphics and elegant fonts caught her eyes. Printed in large read "Solune Morin", with contents explaining an enrollment for models, stylists, designers and photographers. Immediately Rie's heart jumped, she knew this was the perfect path for her, and an escape from the foster home. Noting down the office number on a fresh page, she awaits her new future, for the dream she never gave up on.
After several weeks, Rie moved out of the foster home and migrated to France, Paris, where Solune Morin was located at, rented an apartment and started working part-time at a bakery across the flat, a French-guidebook helping her along the way.
On the particular day when Rie headed over to the landlord's house to discuss about the moving, she meets Ryvre, who was also planning to rent an apartment there. They soon found out they were both applying for Solune Morin. When Rie heard Ryvre trying to negotiate a discount for the rent because she was short of cash, Rie suggested shyly that they share the apartment, which also benefits them by paying half the price of the rent. A bond was created almost instantly.
